Saying goodbye … sort of

To my Friends and Readers,

I am honored and humbled to share with you the news that I have been offered and accepted the position of the CEO of the Pennsylvania SPCA. It gives me a feeling of incredible hope for the future that the Board of Directors has taken the bold step to hire someone who has been such an outspoken advocate of saving the lives of sheltered animals. No Kill is a philosophy that treasures and values the lives of animals and merges hand in glove with the PSPCA’s mission to prevent cruelty and neglect.

There is no doubt that this will be the most difficult and challenging job of my life. Despite the uphill road ahead, I am eager to join with my friends and colleagues, dedicating all of our efforts to the animals, a community and a region I know and love so well.

For this reason it is unlikely that I will be able to continue to contribute much content to in the foreseeable future. The site was started about one year ago in the hope of giving voice to the many people across the country who are fighting and succeeding in ending the killing of savable animals. I am hoping that others will continue to contribute to the site and build on its library of content.

Thank you all so very much for your hard work and dedication!

With Affection,

That’s great news for you and all the animals that will be under your care. Please let us know how things go at the new job.

  5. What wonderful news for Philadelphia, especially after so many years of struggle there. So many other communities out here are struggling the same way, and we look to more and more success stories coming forward to help us turn the last of this immense olg-guard tide that is still staunchly institutionalized in most shelters. I sincerely wish you, Sue, the best of luck and that you are one of the next biggest success stories in this movement. I know you will be incredibly busy, but if there is ever a moment you can take a breather and let us know how things are going and share some of your “how-to” guides to success, please do so. You are an inspiration!

  6. This bodes well for the animals of Philly!

Whoohoo! Congratulations, stay open and alert and willing to share. I’ll miss you here, but I venture you’ll have plenty to keep you busy there. Check in if you find the time…sharing makes it better for everybody, critters too!

  8. This is such wonderful news for PA Sue! All of the very best to you and we KNOW the animals there will be getting the very BEST!!! We look forward to hearing from you and your many accomplishments and support you in all you do!

The Philly shelter situation for the last year has been heartbreaking. The silver lining is that you now have a whole city’s worth of citizen support in getting us back on the no-kill track. Don’t let the Health Dept. get away with anything, and remember all the volunteers who are ready to agitate.
